New PA educators, whether in a faculty, clinical coordinator, or program director role, need skills and support to get the best start in their careers. The Jump Start virtual workshops bring the learning to you without the extra burden of travel costs.

Stepping into the role of faculty member is exciting and challenging, especially if you are new to education. Fortunately, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. This workshop is designed for faculty who are new to education and are looking for guidance in becoming acclimated to academia and the role of educator. The topics covered in this workshop were identified as the most crucial for new PA educators as they take on the role of faculty member. You will meet with the facilitators and fellow participants in a series of virtual sessions covering the basic techniques and tools required for effective teaching. After this workshop, you will be equipped with new skills and knowledge, as well as a network of supportive colleagues.

Schedule: Four weekly 2-hour virtual sessions. All sessions are recorded for registered attendees to review if they must miss a live session. To make the most of the interactive virtual sessions, attendees should plan to complete 30-60 minutes of pre-work prior to each weekly session.

  • Tuesdays from 12:00-2:00 PM Eastern Time: May 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2025

Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

Yes, please refer to the workshop descriptions for the specific registration deadline for each workshop.

Before you begin the registration process, please make sure that you have your NCCPA ID number and ZIP code associated with the NCCPA account (if applicable) to successfully complete the registration. If you do not have an NCCPA ID number, you can still register for the workshops, but you won’t be able to claim CME credits.

No, we recommend that you register yourself for the workshop. Some workshops require you to answer questions during the registration process. These questions are intended to provide the facilitator(s) with information to enhance your workshop experience, such as particular learning goals for the workshop. Since the answers to these questions are unique to you, please register yourself so that you can provide the most helpful answers to these questions.

At this time, we are only accepting credit cards as our method of payment.

Experience and Equipment

The workshop registration fee includes access to the online course materials and participation in live virtual sessions where you will engage with the facilitator(s) and your colleagues. Depending on the workshop, you will participate in a combination of presentations, large group discussions, breakout sessions, and interactive guided activities. To make the most of the interactive virtual sessions, attendees should plan to complete 30-60 minutes of pre-work prior of each weekly session.

Workshop materials will be shared online and you will also have access to a dedicated Professional Learning Community for your workshop group. To access your account in the PAEA Member Community, please login or reset your password here.

You will need a desktop or laptop computer with internet access and a headset (or a microphone and speakers) to communicate with the facilitators and your fellow workshop participants. You are also strongly encouraged to use a webcam during the workshop. Please note that it is not recommended to use a tablet or mobile device as this will limit your ability to fully participate.

Participants will use Zoom to join the live virtual workshop sessions. We recommend that you install Zoom on your desktop or laptop computer prior to the workshop. You can test your computer’s connection to Zoom at https://zoom.us/test. If you have any difficulty, please consult with your IT department for assistance setting up your computer.

You will need an active Zoom account using your program email address to join the live virtual sessions. If you already have a Zoom account through your program, simply use that email address to log in to Zoom. If you do not already have a Zoom account, you can create a free account using your program email address on this webpage: https://zoom.us/signup. Please make sure you are able to log in to Zoom prior to your first live virtual session.

All virtual sessions are recorded, and all registered attendees will have access to view the recordings.

PAEA encourages all PA faculty and staff to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accessibility accommodation or have questions about the physical or virtual access provided, please contact workshops@PAEAonline.org at the time of registration or at least one week in advance of the event.

CME and Attendance

Yes. Event organizers plan to apply for AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Please refer to the workshop descriptions for the specific CME information related to each workshop.

For live virtual workshops, active participation in all originally scheduled sessions of the program is mandatory to receive full CME credits. Active participation in live virtual workshop sessions includes, but is not limited to, completing required pre-work ahead of each session, participating in virtual classroom activities, discussions, and breakout sessions.

Attendees who cannot attend a live session may watch the recording of the missed session to receive partial CME credit for that session. The session recordings do not include time spent in breakout groups, which makes the recording shorter than the length of the live session.

Certified PAs who meet the attendance policy requirements and complete the workshop evaluation survey will receive a certificate showing their CME credits after the workshop.
