Job Posting: Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director

University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine

Position Overview:

The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director to help establish and lead a new PA Master's Program, anticipated to begin in Summer 2027. The Program Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and growing this innovative program, working closely with the School of Medicine leadership and university administration. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking institution with full support from both the School of Medicine and the University.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the PA Master's Program.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Recruit, manage, and mentor PA faculty and staff.
  • Design curriculum and educational strategies in collaboration with faculty and staff.
  • Provide leadership and vision to create a robust and sustainable program.
  • Report directly to the Associate Dean of Health Professional Education within the School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a practicing Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Eligible for licensure as a PA in Texas.
  • At least 3 years of experience in PA education, including leadership roles.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage academic programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and university administration.
